In the year 16 BC people of Jerusalem are waiting for the awaited Messiah to be born but Prophet Imran’s wife gives birth to a girl who is named Mary (Maryam in Arabic). Since Imran’s wife had made a pledge to make her child serve the sacred temple until the age of puberty, the 6-year-old Mary is taken to a temple where no girl had ever entered and stays there under the protection of Prophet Zechariah, despite all the opposition by the Jewish rabbis. Mary is eventually driven from the temple and meanwhile, by God’s will, Mary gets pregnant and this raises people’s suspicions. Feeling insecure about the birth of this child, Herod orders that the baby should be killed, but the newborn startles everyone by beginning to talk in his cradle.
